Saturday Chatterday
Saturday Chatterday is back, this Saturday morning (1st Feb) from 10.30-12.00.
What makes good worship? Which are your favourite types of worship? What style of worship do you like least? Why do we ‘worship’? What do we get out of it? What, if anything, would you like us to do differently?
These are all questions we’re going to talk about in our discussion this Saturday morning. Plus, how can members of the congregation get more involved in worship?
It’s a great topic and controversial sometimes but we can definitely disagree agreeably! Hope to see you there. We’ll meet in the chapel.
For the time being, Saturday Chatterday and Unitarian Roots are alternating, on the first Saturday of each month.
Pastoral Contact Team
Have you heard about the Pastoral Contact Team that we’ll be putting together? It’s about making sure we notice when people are struggling or aren’t around, phone calls, visiting and putting our heads together. Members of the team will meet with me once every couple of months to check on how folk are, and to see if there’s anyone we should be getting in touch with. Obviously, you don’t have to be part of the team to keep an eye out, visit and call people, but if you’d like to be part of this initative, or if you’re not sure, please stay behind for a brief meeting in the chapel after the service on 16th February. If you can’t come on the 16th but you’d like to involved, or just to find out more, please let me know.
My Working Pattern for February
My working pattern for each month is going to be on the noticeboard in the kitchen area. This will make it clear when I’m working for the chapel and when I’m off. And when I’m working for the chapel, it will make it clear whether I’m in Knutsford (either at the chapel or in the surrounding area), or whether I’m working from home (WFH).
This timetable is not absolutely set in stone. Occasionally I might be somewhere else or working at a slightly different time - we can’t predict or control all circumstances, but I hope that for the majority of the time I will be where the timetable says.
I currently work a total of 16 days for the chapel each month. Feel free to email on my days off but I will have my out of office auto reply and you will get a reply when I’m back at work. Of course, I will always respond to emergencies on a day off, please phone if this is the case.
Chronic Pain and Illness Circle
The Chronic Pain and Illness Circle now meets from 10.30 to 12.00 on the third Wednesday of each month. So, our next meeting will be on Wednesday February 19th. Please feel free to join us, even if you’ve not been before. It’s a great help.
The Situation with the GA
Graham has composed a superb submission to the General Assembly which he will be sharing with chapel members. He couldn’t have put things better or with more impact. He makes a strong, I would say irrefutable case, but we’ll just have to see how they respond. I honestly don’t think more could have been done. My sincere thanks to Graham for the work and passion he has put into this. If we are ultimately thwarted then it certainly won’t be for lack of trying on our side.
